Track lost savings & old building societies

This search facility will tell you what has happened to a building society that no longer exists and provides a link to its successor's website, where appropriate. If the society has been dissolved it means that it has ceased business and there is no successor body.

Through this page you can start to trace a lost savings account and find out what happened to a building society where the name no longer exists. Searching will tell you if the society changed its name, demutualised to become a bank or was taken over by another building society or bank. It will provide you with a link to the successor organisation's website and give you the right name to enter into the lost account tracing service.

Lost Nationwide Building Society accounts

If you know your account is with Nationwide Building Society, or was with a building society that has merged with Nationwide, please contact your local Nationwide branch instead of completing a lost accounts application form. You can find your nearest Nationwide branch here.
