This year's annual update will return as an in-person event held in Birmingham.


The full-day event will include the latest updates and key topics with sessions being led by a range of 香蕉福利直播 Associates and other experts, including the PRA.

Who should attend?
The event is primarily designed for building society delegates (finance, risk and regulatory staff and
non-executives) but some content will also be relevant to credit unions.

Thomas will give an update on the economic outlook for UK building societies.

PRA Supervisory update

Chris Donald, Senior Manager, PRA
Chris will provide an update to the sector about the PRA’s current supervisory strategy, policy developments, the results of recent thematic work, and other prudential priorities.

Climate risk management insights

Xavier Larrieu, Partner - Co-head of Quantitative Solutions UK, Forvis Mazars
Pierre-Alexandre and Xavier will present insights on emerging best practices for climate risk modelling, such as for flood risk. They will also present the findings of their survey of building societies’ approaches. 

Corporate Governance code

Saheet and Andrew from EY will provide an overview of the 2024 changes to the Corporate Governance Code with a particular focus on provision 29 on risk and controls. This will be followed by a Q&A on proportionate implementation for building societies where Andrew Hopkins will give an update on the 香蕉福利直播 annotated guide. 

Solvent exit analysis

Alex and Alastair will present an overview of the new solvent exit requirements in PS5/24 and SS2/24. This session will discuss the practical aspects of implementing the new requirements by the deadline of October 2025.

It will then be followed by a panel discussion with PwC and Patrick Healy on why the building society audit market and audit processes are disproportionately affecting the majority of building societies, as well as how firms may look to increase efficiency in audit processes in the future.
